The Doctor Who Cried Detox – The release date that has been pushed back more times than a Nazi in Federal Prison. Now that Doctor Dre has officially announced that the Detox album will be released some time in 2011 we are still left with a major problem. Will die hard Dre fans believe that it is a reality and are we expected to support it. The fans have been waiting nearly ten years for this album and delay after delay we are feeling a little bit played out and lied to at this point. So have the fans “Forgot about Dre”?

Millions of dollars in previous record sales be enough to make the Detox a success in 2011. I doubt it. They state of the recording industry is not what it was ten years about. Back in 2000 when Dr Dre Chronic 2001 was released every and anybody could put out an album and sell a million plus units. But now in 2010 things have changed quite a bit. Digital Downloads are at an all time high and many of they do not put money directly into the artists hands. They very rappers how do sell over a million units have extreme colt like following that are fueled by tons of promotional mixtapes and boat loads of free mp3s.

Is Doctor Dre’s buzz enough to make the detox a sucess? Or has the buzz died down due to Dre making too many false promises about release dates that never came to life. Well the good people over at ERFilms has released a very appropriate short film / documentary to comment on the state of Detox.
