A group of scam artists in Canada swapped out modeling clay for iPads in major retailers over the holidays, duping customers into buying the “perfectly sealed boxes.” Scammers targeted Future Shop, Best Buy, Walmart, and London Drugs stores around Canada.

These scammers seem to have been purchasing the actual iPads, switching them out for clay and taking them back to the store. Nearly 10 iPads out of each store were purchased and returned in this manner.

Local police are said to not be on the case yet, but Apple has confirmed that they are helping with the investigation. via
