DMX’s rap career has weathered drug addiction, animal cruelty charges, and prison time; so what’s an unruly concert attendee? Just “One More Road To Cross,” according to his best-selling album …And Then There Was X—and according to the events that took place at his show last night. The Yonkers emcee was rocking a crowd at Café Sevilla in Long Beach, Calif. on Thursday night (January 5) when a man from the audience hopped onstage and tried to grab X by the throat.

Security grabbed the misfit and carried him offstage as X got himself loose. “Come on, we don’t stop for any of this sh–!” X yelled, before getting back to the aforementioned track, “One More Road To Cross.”

DMX’s early career was highlighted by several multiplatinum solo LPs, and he served as the face of Ruff Ryders Entertainment, one of rap’s powerhouse labels in the late 1990s and early 2000s. His musical trajectory went wayward as a result of multiple arrests for animal cruelty, reckless driving, unlicensed driving, drug possession, and identity falsification.

Since leaving prison in 2010, he has performed around the country, released freestyles and buzz tracks, and made appearances on the likes of Dr. Drew’s “Lifechangers” television show, and the 2011 BET Hip Hop Awards. He has also been to the studio with Machine Gun Kelly and longtime collaborator Dame Grease.
